So when I go running, along a fairly popular route I often come across other people running. Here I am, huffing and puffing, still doing intervals and these people pass my by looking as though it is easy. They are thin and lithe, don’t appear out of breath, as though it is easy. So where are the people like me. it’s January, there should be more of them!!!! I know the reason these people look fit is because they run, but there’s not enough of us starters out there, who are in pain and finding it hard, instead of those grinning on the high of the endorphins.
On Saturday, I took part in one of Walk London’s 3 times a year free days. Normally, you pay to be taken on a guided walk, but they offer the whole range for 3 weekends a year,. I joined a walk from Wimbledon to Richmond, one I’d done 2 years ago. Wimbledon park, Wimbledon Common, Putney Heath, Richmond Park. It’s 7 miles, with just a little up and down, a pretty good walk and would be brilliant on a warm spring day. A mild day in January is nice too,but would be better with more green. Did my usual though, wandered along with little interactions with people - almost everyone had come in small groups, so didn’t want to but in.
Meanwhile, internet dating is proving it’s usual damp squid. I’ve tried before and not really got anywhere. I’ve gone for eharmony this time, with a definite intention to message someone at least once a day. I’m keeping to that, but not getting any response at all. Eharmony does not allow you to search as stuff, but delivers you matches daily. So getting about 8 options, 1-2 contacted a day but sofar, absolutely no response :-(
I love food. Lots and lots of it. And wine. I tend to cook more than eat convenience food, but then you have portion control problems….So the challenge is to accurately keep track so I’m aware of what I am having. Some Quavers with lunch, means no mid-afternoon snack. Weighing the food I am cooking with is problematic as well. I think I need a better scales than I have at the moment. I’m not looking to drop drastically, I still want to enjoy my food but it’s about balancing what is eatern and how much is eaten, along with the right kind of exercise, so that I can enjoy the food.
So I went running this morning, after nearly 2 weeks not doing. The cold has stop threatened and I could actually get up and face going out. Yesterday, I did a walk around Hampstead, with a Blue Badge guide so lots of local information. It was only a couple of miles, but enough to get brain on the right path again.
Weight wise, there’s 5lb lost since the start, slow and stead is the plan. looking forward to see if there is a measurement reduction as well. There were a couple of fun things eaten over the weekend (ice-cream!) but only 3 drinks on my declared drinking day. Sunday it was so tempting to buy wine, but avoided it. Back to the watered down apple juice.
this was easy in the summer. Get up and run. As i thought, not nearly as easy in the cold, dark, winter.
So for tea tonight i had cake, the last piece of the fruity cake I made at the weekend. Nothing else needed. Probably counts as part of my 5 a day, as it has a mango and a banana in it. Also did the #fitteam12 leg challenge and a set of exercises from my guardian challenge. Now to bed, so i can be up early for the run
Starting the year off again with another plan to lose weight and get fit. or is that get fit and lose weight. I think my priority is the fitness side, as I’m far too aerobically useless, but as a result of this, I should also be losing weight, especially if I want to be running for the fitness, i need to be less in volume to protect the joints.
So I have a plan, I’ve rejoined the gym and I’m looking for support
